Jul 12 DIESEL WORKSHOP 01: ONE IN EVERY TWO EUROPEAN CHEVROLETS NOW AVAILABLE WITH A DIESEL ENGINE

WTCC ULTRA: Believe it or not … it’s a Diesel!
Following the convincing debut made by the diesel unit in the Captiva SUV and its cultivated premiere in the mid-size Epica sedan, buyers of a compact Chevrolet in the Lacetti/Nubira model family can now also opt for a diesel unit. In three of its six model lines, Chevrolet Europe will offer a diesel engine option in 2007. With this wide choice for car buyers, Chevrolet Europe has set the course for further growth, because the diesel boom in Europe is continuing unabated: Over the past 15 years, the proportion of new cars in Europe (EU) fitted with a diesel engine has nearly quadrupled. In 1990, only 13.8 percent of all new cars were powered by diesel, but in 2006, the 50 percent barrier was crossed.
Accordingly, expectations for the bow-tie brand are high. “We are now launching our diesel offensive on a broad front,” says Chevrolet Europe’s CEO, Wayne Brannon. “By the end of the decade, I expect that one out of every three Chevrolets in Europe will have a diesel engine beneath the hood.”
